It's another Monday only this time we had a visit from Mexico! We were on a trip and so when Elder Garcia called I unfortunately wasn't able to visit for too too long because between Africa Wifi and Mexico Wifi...well, it just wasn't great. We were able to talk though and some highlights from this week are: - They had Zone Conference this last week and it was awesome. Elder Garcia really enjoys getting together with all the other missionaries and learning from them as well as President Proudfoot. - Elder Garcia said that sadly three (3) missionaries were sent home due to a young lady in Togo ending up pregnant. It is very sad and in fact, one of them that was sent home was a previous companion, Elder Kamata. It has really hit Elder Garcia because Elder Kamata was truly one of his favorite companions. We talked about how it really needs to a rally of prayers from those still in the mission for these three Elders to help carry them through this next stage of life for them. - ...

From: Mom To: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Sunday, November 27, 2022 Subject: It's Sunday. Again How are you? How has your week been? Have you and your companion gotten into a good groove of it being just the two of you? You feeling better about the duo instead of the trio? How is it being back full into work in the sector now that you don’t have to share the two between three missionaries? Things here are good. We spent the first part of the week doing school and getting ready to levee for Mexico. You forget the work it takes to leave town until it states you right in the face. We did thanksgiving dinner on Sunday with the millers. It was fun. Nice to put the Christmas plates out and do a more formal dinner. I always enjoy that a lot. And the millers were fun to watch experience that too. We flew to Mexico on Wednesday. It was a quick trip. We had a fast flight to Phoenix, a small layover and then off to Cabo. The lines at customs was much quicker than wh...

Week 75 Email: Dynamic Duo?!?

Image
From: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Monday, November 21, 2022 Subject: The Dynamic Duo?!? Bonjour/Bonsoir tout le monde! J'espère que cette semaine a passé bien. (I hope this week has gone well) For us here in Tabligbo we definitely had a week for sure haha. Let me tell you about it.  So we started of on Tuesday with a district council. And that was really weird because we have 2 companionship in the District as of right now. It went well though, we listened to a talk by Elder Holland and then one of the other Elders mentioned a talk by Elder Ballard and we all talked about how we can exercise our live and faith while here. It was overall a great experience. Tuesday afternoon came around and we were able to really focus on some amis while trying our best to contact others. But sometimes people just don't pick up thier cellphones. We ended up doing a lot of member visits and went out to Amoussimé, which is about 5km from our appartment. For those of you like ...

Week 74 Email: The trio

Image
From: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Monday, November 14, 2022 Subject: The trio Bonjour tout le monde! Ou Bonsoir! I guess that really depends on when you read this haha.  This past weekw as a blast! As you can see from the title I am working in a trio again. So my companions name is Elder Mbowa, he's from the Congo also, and he's pretty chill guy. He goes home right before me and so he talks to me all of the time about what I'm going to study and what I'm going to do when I get home. And when I tell him that I want to focus on the time on the mission he just laughs and puts his arm around me and says "Bro, we don't have much time left. I'm just keeping you on your toes." At least that's the english translation of it haha. Our other companion is Elder Mahan. He was in the apartment last transfer and we are working with hiim until the new missionary he is supposed to train shows up. We got news this past week that he should be com...

From: Mom To: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Saturday, November 12, 2022 Subject: That was a fast week Hey! How are you? How is your week going? How are the ami's? Did you get the additional companion or still just chillin in a trio? This week has flown by around here! I swear it was just Saturday and I was emailing and yet here I am all over again. Nuts! But good too. I got a lot done and I am happy about that. I had a class for nails on Monday afternoon and it was fun. I learned a lot and am excited to put all of that into play when doing someone's nails. I had a ton of stuff going through the week with my car and the insurance. I picked up a rental and found out that my car probably won't be done until the end of December so that was super frustrating but I am grateful that the lady has insurance and my rental car I am driving is not an expense that we have to pay for. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it is not great. I already miss my car a whole lot! ...

Week 73 Email: Bye bye loo

Image
From: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Monday, November 7, 2022 Subject: Bye bye loo Okay so this week was a great week but there was some sad news at the end or towards the end of the week. Let me explain haha.  Okay so to start off the week we did a District activity on Monday where we ate some "African delicacies" I guess you could call them haha. It was really fun to get together and just have a good time and talk with the distrit. I spent a lot of the day talking to Elder Oliver who's from Canada. He was trained in one of my most favorite sectors too! (Adakpame) So we talked about that and how he's liking the mission and basically just anything that came up haha.  On Tuesday we had our lst District Council of the transfer. It was a llittle sad because we all knew that there were going to be soem changes but we had a great time together. We talked a lot about being responsible as a missionary and as a person in general. It was going really good an...

This was a whirlwind of a week for Elder Garcia as he processes transfer news as well as learning that his most favorite companion on his mission, Elder Mulamingo, will be leaving. Some highlights this week: - Elder Garcia will be going into a trio for now. With transfers, Elder Mahan is getting an Elder from Benin who is still waiting on a VISA so until that can come in he will be in a trio - With the trio there will be some tricky scheduling because these three Elders will be working both sectors in Tabligbo. Both sectors currently have ami's who are progressing towards baptisms so they both need attention. Elder Garcia is sure they will be able to work it out but it is something he is mindfully aware of. - Elder Meline is going to Benin as a Zone Leader. Elder Garcia is hopeful to get to Benin one day but for now he is just so excited for Elder Meline - Elder Mulamingo is also headed to Benin. This is a favorite companion of Elder Garcia's and he is so sad to see him go. He ...

From: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Monday, November 7, 2022 **Reply to Mom's Email**Hey mom! First I am so sorry that happened to your car. That's just brutal!! How are you doing and how is B? That would shake me up a little bit not gonna lie. I thought of that accident that I saw happen on mtn. view a couple months before I left and I can't forget the 2 cars that just rolled and flipped and the sounds. Just awful. I really hope that you guys are doing alright and that you figured out where your car was so you could go and seal off the window. People are jour dumb, that's all that I can say about that haha.  It's good to hear that Tyler got his deer too!!! I bet he liked that a lot. I feel like it's been a while since he has shot anything so that's good. Kinda cool too haha. Flooding really?? That's ridiculous, do you know why the change with that, like what happened to the seals or anything as to why it flooded? That's so bizarr...

From: Mom To: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Saturday, November 5, 2022 Subject: hey Hey kiddo. How are you? How was this week? What's new with the comp and your ami's? Any new findings on what President Proudfoot threw out with 'being all in'? I am in the middle of madness so I just wanted to jump on quick and say hello and let you know I love you. This week was fine for the most part. A 4 day week for Brooklyn so school  flew by but if you ask her it was a long week. :) You know how that all goes. Tyler and I are dealing with a roof leak at the cabin and damage that has been done there. The room you sleep in is going to have to be gutted. Carpet is wet, our bathroom is affected, and it is just frustrating. He was finally able to get a license to hunt in Colorado so he left Wednesday and I heard today that he got his deer. I am so happy for him. B and I were up today and decided to run to fizz and then the DI. On our way home from the DI we were inv...
