Not only is it Monday and Pday but it is also the Monday where we get to find out what is next for Elder Garcia with transfers this week! Always exciting when this day comes around. Here are some highlights from our call: - Elder Garcia is leaving Sanguera! He will be heading to a new place called Tabligbo where he will get a new companion that he doesn't know anything about, he will be in a 4 Elder apartment again, and he will no longer be a District Leader - Elder Garcia said the new area he is headed to has a lot of young converts. Young being children who are under 18. This poses a tricky scenario in that Elder Garcia said the converts have not been coming to church since they got baptized since their parents aren't converts themselves. He is looking forward to finding these families and hopefully working with them. - Elder Garcia had interviews with President Proudfoot this last week. He said usually he goes into them and is unsure of what to expect because President Proud...

Week 67 Email

Image
From: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Monday, September 26, 2022 Bonjour tout le monde! Comment allez vous? I hope that you all had a great week this past week. This week was a sadder week but good at the same time. Let's hop into it. To start off the week Elder Tumuteke went to the temple in Ghana and because of that Elder Brunt and I did a few days of exchange. We had a really good time together, we made some pretty good food too. (pics are below) I was able to do some baptismal interviews for Apedokoe when we were doing the 3 days exchange. Their candidates were very prepared and I was even able to go and assist at their baptism this past Saturday. The Apedokoe sector is a little bit different than my sector because they are a little bit more in a city part and soyou can see some cool things and there is an old train track that goes through the sector. I didn't get any pictures of it but it was really cool. There is still a lot of dirt and it's like mo...

Email from Mom: Sunday, September 25, 2022

From: Mom To: Christian.garcia@missionary.org Date: Sunday, September 25, 2022 Subject: 15 months Hey kiddo! Happy 15 months! You have 9 left. Can you even believe this? I woke up today and have had you on my mind more than ever and have thoughts I wanted to drop in an email and share with you. Back in March I was worried about your focus and your reasoning as to the "why" you chose to serve a mission, why you chose to accept the call that had been given, and then why you continued to stay in Africa when things weren't coming across as an 'all in missionary'. I asked you to think about it and then to let me know some of your thoughts if you would. You sent me an email and in it, the line I guess that strikes me the most, even as I read it today is " I just want to help others even if it's nothing to do with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I just want to help these people and serve them in the way that Christ served others". This was 9 months ...

Week 66 Email: A Visit

Image
From: Christian. garcia@missionary.org Date: Monday, September 19, 2022 Subject: A Visit Bonjour tout le monde! Comment vous allez? Sorry I didn't send one of these out last week, we went to the zoo again as a District so we were a lil busy. But that just means we can covet 2 weeks in 1! So let's get into it. So let's go back to 2 weeks ago so that I can get y'all updated with that. Elder Kamata and I grinded really hard and we found lots of people and had a ton of miracles in our assistance at church on Sunday the 11. We also did an exchange with the Zone Leaders so I went with Elder Kempe again but this time we were in my sector of Sanguera and we rode the bikes all day. It was a good day lanned out but because of the luck of exhanges (some missionaires will understand) a lot of our lessons fell through. But we made up for it by going and visiting new members and some other friends that it had been a second since we had talked to them. Then last Monday we...

This week was a good week for Elder Garcia. He was able to experience a mission tour this last week and he said he really loved it and loved having everyone together as a whole mission! Elder Kyungu is from the Congo, he served as a Mission President, and now serves as Inter-region of Africa West. Elder Garcia says that anytime there is any sort of 'authority' that comes to the mission, most missionaries are on high alert. It brings them a lot of worry and anxiety. Elder Garcia says obedience is a big issue for a lot of them and so he thinks that is probably why.  Elder Kyungu stressed BECOMING during his time with these missionaries in Togo. Elder Garcia said basically it was to not stress to much. Let the Lord assist you in becoming who you are meant to be and who you are in the process already of becoming. This was not just a lesson for missionaries but for everyone. Elder Garcia really enjoyed the lessons taught and he said he took a lot of notes to look back on. Another b...
