Everyone back together again

It really has been a wild ride with having you gone and out of the home for the past two (2) years. I remember what feels like yesterday, sitting on the porch at the cabin asking you why you wanted to serve. At that time it wasn't coming across like this was the choice you really wanted to make. I hope you always remember the words of advice that I told you on that day. Go and find YOU. Go and realize that you are good enough just the way you are and that you do not need to change to accommodate anyone or become a chameleon in any situation to 'just fit in'.

These last two years have been years of growth for you but also for us here at home. We are able to see the value of missionaries who are willing to jump all in and who are willing to commit to sacrificing everything for the benefit of the Gospel. We have felt the blessings in our home as we have supported you and prayed for you these last years.

As you close out this chapter of life my hope for you as your Mom is this; I hope you have found value within you as a person. I hope you have found out what makes you tick, what excites you. I hope you have been able to recognize what it means to 'feel the Spirit'. I hope you have been able to have moments of 'ahhh yes!' while you have been away. I hope as you move forward that you will always be able to look back at the 730 days you spent as a missionary that you spent each of those days serving your Heavenly Father in a way that He would be proud. I hope that you have been able to gain a stronger testimony of the purpose of missionaries, the purpose of the Gospel and the Plan of Happiness, the purpose of fellow shipping, and also the purpose of loving everyone as the Savior does. I hope the value of hard work is something you have learned and can recognize as key in progressing forward in life. Nobody is going to give you anything in life...you must work hard for it. Set lofty goals and work towards them! You know the reward and feeling that comes from that.

A mission can teach many things. Things that are the primary answers right...knowing the scriptures, how to budget, building a testimony, etc. What isn't discussed as far as what a mission teaches is that it isn't always easy and that sometimes going out of the apartment just doesn't sound great on any given day. I hope you will remember those days of your mission and that you will be able to take lessons learned on what takes place when you don't go and do so that as you progress into adult life with yourself, a spouse maybe one day, and even your own family you can never waiver on whether or not it will be worth it to 'do'.

Life isn't easy. Nobody ever said it was going to be. A mission isn't easy. Nobody said it would and I would beg to think that you would agree with everyone else that a mission is indeed hard and only for those who are willing to commit 100% and be all in. There is too much to lose if you aren't right?

We are thrilled to have you home and look forward to watch as this next phase of life unfolds for you. This is a fresh start. You literally get to choose what each day looks like and what goals you choose to make and work towards. Always remember that your Heavenly Father is close and will always be at the ready to help make any of these things possible. Always remember your family is here and that we too want only the best for you. Welcome home Elder. We love you!
