This week was absolutely AMAZING!!! Honestly, I'm not sure the last time
that I had a companion that wanted to work this hard! Elder Kayembe
(kiy-em-bey) is from the Congo as well but this time from Lubumbashi. He
speaks Swahili too so that's cool haha. He's coming from finishing
training a new missionary and seems a little grateful for the "break"
kinda thing. But he loves working and is just what Dassa needs. He's
really kind and thoughtful when it comes to people as well. He's not
like a lot of Congolese where they like to chastise and show that they
know scriptures, in fact he detests that haha. He's really strong too
when it comes to wanting to go and contact and that has already helped
me to have more confidence in myself and also my knowledge. He's kinda
like a pusher in a good way. Not sure if that makes sense. This week
went really well, we had quite a few people at church and also the
members have been working really hard so there was a lot of progression
this week. This week we went to visit our friends with a baptismal date
to try and help them so that everything goes smoothly ig haha. There
were some complications but we got them all figured out. The family that
has a date is interesting. Every time that we went to visit them this
week there was someone saying that the kids don't respect thier mom and
they don't listen and that if they don't change then the army is going
to come and get them and "reform" them... kinda sketchy but everyone
seemed serious. We also have one brother who said he would prefer to be
more independent before he gets baptised and that it should still be
this year but not at the moment. But other than that everyone is doing
alright.
It sounds like a
slower week was something very welcomed haha. You liked the slow but I
liked the fast haha. I think it's going to be interesting to see what
I'm going to prefer when I get home after getting settled?
And
I don't think that I knew that Grandma started working in the temple...
that's good though that she hit that year mark! The temple is something
that I think a lot of people the for granted when in Utah, they're
everywhere and not everyone, that can go, goes. There are so many people
here that want to go but the closest is Ghana and that's a lot of $ so
many don't get the chance for a looooong while.
Why
the heck would you want to go tubing in February?!?! Honestly I wonder
what goes through people's heads sometimes. It's kinda like something we
talked about in church today. Jesus taught to not tempt God... they
went tubing when it was cold in cold water and they tempted the water to
not make them cold, and the water showed them haha.
Did
I know that Robyn was a teacher? Maybe, honestly I can't remember
anymore. Also, is Lauren done with her mission? I forget when she went
out and when she was supposed to get home. And also that's Robyn's
daughter right? Tests make a lot of people nervous even if you know you
can do it, B is the same way as Kaitlyn in that way, I think. It is
funny though, she'll be good. Unless she gets the motorcycle test like I
did haha, maybe not 100% but still a pass.
I
will not lie to you, I forgot that the supercool was a thing. The only
thing right now on my mind is spring training haha. More snow and cold
is lame buuuuut its good for Utah. How much have you guys gotten this
year anyways? It seems like there is quite a bit from what you've been
explaining this season. Thanks for another email mom! Crazy how fast
this year is already going by... before we know it its going to be
December again. Love you lots!!
