Phone Call Home: Monday, October 10, 2022

I cannot believe it is Monday and I cannot believe it is already a couple of weeks into October! Holy cow! Where is this time going and why is it going by so quickly?

Elder Garcia and I had a brief call today but he looks good and he seems really happy. A few quick things we talked about this week are:

- It did not rain as much this week so they were able to be out in sector quite a bit more

- He has located the missing 2 bikes and will spend some time this week working on them to get them 100% and start using them

- They came upon a group of 7 (mostly women with a child or friend) who they are working with. One of them had already listened to some missionaries while others are just learning. They invited them to come to come to church and they said they would. Elder Garcia was stoked to see them ALL walk in even though it had started to rain really really hard. One of the women told the missionaries "rain or shine we will be here. God is testing us and we will listen as long as we keep feeling good'. Elder Garcia loved it! He and his companion ended up taking over Primary for the 3 kids who were there that week and he said it was so fun. They sang ' Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes' and he said he had to do the actions himself to show them how to do it. I cannot fathom the sheer infancy of the church on this level! They have plans to meet with this group of 7 later today and I am excited to watch their progression.

- President and Sister Proudfoot are set to come to Tablibgo sooner than expected to hopefully create a branch here. Thinking maybe as soon as next month. How exciting!

- Elder Garcia and his companion have a HUGE opportunity in this new sector. The 'field is white and ready to harvest' is a phrase I reminded Elder Garcia about today. The church is so so new and the people in this area are touched by the feelings of the Spirit that they are being introduced to. I shared with Elder Garcia how exciting it would be for me to know that I was a hand in getting that started, a branch, maybe a ward, a Stake, and who knows...maybe one day even a temple. The generations that could be blessed because of a choice to serve a mission. I just sit back and all I can say is 'wow'. We take so for granted the blessing of the 'easy' that the church is here at home. I leave the house in the morning and the glow of 4 or 5 temples can been seen. These people don't even KNOW what a temple is or the amazing that happens inside of one! Such an exciting time to be in Elder Garcia's sector and I pray he capitalizes and works his guts out each day.

Elder Garcia is spiraling into his finish line on this mission of his and there is still so much work to be done. I can see it and hear it when he describes his day to day. I have to remind myself daily that this isn't my mission and that he will do what he sees best with his companion day in and day out. I just am so hopeful that he can find the desire and the will to work until he collapses at the end of each day.

Have the best week. I love you
