Bonjour tout le monde! Comment allez vous? I hope that you all had a great week this past week. This week was a sadder week but good at the same time. Let's hop into it.
To
start off the week Elder Tumuteke went to the temple in Ghana and
because of that Elder Brunt and I did a few days of exchange. We had a
really good time together, we made some pretty good food too. (pics are
below) I was able to do some baptismal interviews for Apedokoe when we
were doing the 3 days exchange. Their candidates were very prepared and I
was even able to go and assist at their baptism this past Saturday. The
Apedokoe sector is a little bit different than my sector because they
are a little bit more in a city part and soyou can see some cool things
and there is an old train track that goes through the sector. I didn't
get any pictures of it but it was really cool. There is still a lot of
dirt and it's like most of the sectors in the mission.
On
Tuesday I had my interview with President Proudfoot and Sister
Proudfoot. It was such a cool experience to get to talk to them this
week as we were coming down to the end of this transfer. I was able to
ask some questions and get some good study ideas and some responses as
well. They always have great insights. I know that I say this all the
time but I am seriously so grateful for them and for the insights and
revelation that they recieve for this mission.
On
Thursday Elder Kamata and I were able to head to Sanguera again
together because the exchange with Elder Brunt was over. Riding a bike
and walking are 2 very different things in sector and I was ready to be
done walking to say the least haha. Elder Kamata and I had some really
good lessons and we were able to go and contact some pretty cool people
too.
Firday we planned
everything out for this next week and I got to do the last planning for
Sanguera. On Tuesday President Proudfoot told me that I was going to
leave so I tried to make it so that there was the momentum still going
with the goals and the amis that we called. But we called lots of people
and some new ones as well. I got to test my Ewe skills and I still know
like nothing of this language hah. The maman didn't understand me very
well, my comp and I decided that we needed to get a member to help us
sent up a rendez-vous. We went out to sector and taught the family of
Maman Togolaise and had a really Greta lesson with them. It was a very
hard lesson for me because I knew it was my last lesson with them that I
would be able to do. We had a great time together though.
Saturday
we got to go to a baptism for the Elders of Apedokoe too! I got to see
Frère Rock, Daniel and Oracio baptised and I was able to be a witness as
well. I always love the spirit that you can feel in baptisms. It is
something that reminds me of the love of our Father in Heaven. That
afternoon Elder Kamata and I went and contacted this new family that we
had gotten from one of our amis. The kids and the dad weren't there
because of the time of day but we still were able to do a great lesson
with the mom and we did the lesson with the other 2 people that she
works with too! On Saturday night we got the call from the assistants
and they told us that I was going to be leaving Sanguera and I would be
going to work on the sector of Tabligbo. It's a village area with bikes
and lots and lots of dust and dirt haha.
Sunday
was a good day but still very sad. After being in this sector for 6
months I'm leaving. I was able to thank lots of people for their love
and support and their help out in sector. I got some pretty good
pictures too, I'll put them below also. We spent the rest of the day
going snd saying hey and bye to other people and kinda wrapping up this
part of my mission. We contacted quite a few people so I'm hoping that
next week there will be some lessons that get going for them. Sanguera
is an amazing sector and I am going to miss it lots but I am excited to
see where Tabligbo will help take my testimony.
This
week as I was doing my personal study I thought a lot about what it is
that we are here upon this earth for. And because of that I was thinking
a lot about the Plan of Salvation that our Heavenly Father made for us
so that we could be with Him again someday. I was making some notes and I
went and studied 2 Nephi chapter 2. As a missionary we use this chapter
a lot, towards the end, when we are teaching the Plan of Salvation. But
this time I studied from the beginning to really and fully understand
what it is that Lehi was trying to teach his children. We read in verse
18 that Lehi talks about the fallen angel, who we know to be Satan, and
how because if his state as fallen and miserable he searches for all men
to become like him. But if we go backwards towards the beginning of the
chapter we read in verse 6 that, "Wherefore, redemption cometh in and
through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth." The
redemption, even if we do fall off of the path, comes through the Holy
Messiah who is our Savior. Jesus Christ suffered the pains and the sins
of the world so that we all could be redeemed and have the ability to
live with our Father again. This week I invite us all to look at even
the smallest errors that we might have done, and to offer them up to the
Lord and ask for his forgiveness. I know that He will listen and He
will forgive you no matter the sin.
I love you all and I hope that you all have a great week this week! Emails are welcome, I will do my best to respond :)
Beaucoup d'amour,
Elder Garcia
