Phone Call Home: Monday, June 27, 2022
Elder Garcia didn't call today until later which is fine but it also means not a long call to catch up and see how things are moving along. I am grateful still nonetheless for the little moments we get and for the chance to see his face. :)
This week we talked about the following:
- They were able to find a good amount of new ami's. They didn't hit their goal but they are grateful for the new ones they did find and excited to see what is in store for them
- Elder Garcia had interviews with President Proudfoot this week. He thought with transfers coming up this next week that he would get an idea of what is in store for him but that wasn't the case at all. Instead he said it was a very different interview. President asked him about his plans after the mission. (He has officially hit the 1 year now) That caught Elder Garcia off guard a little but he said they had a good talk about it. He also got asked how obedient he was. This was interesting for me so I asked why. Was there something that happened that has other Elders talking? Was he doing things he shouldn't be doing. Elder Garcia said he was doing the best he could and that he isn't perfect. He also said that other Elders had the phone and his Goggle account was open and they found a drive that has movies on it and they were watching them. He thought maybe that was a reason why? He did say that he explained all of it to President Proudfoot as well. I encouraged him to do his very best to make it very clear in his words and actions that he is doing all he is supposed to be doing and to set a good example. And it was also a good reminder to make sure that his account is signed out of unless he is on the phone himself.
- The Zone Leaders have decided that rather than them make the goals for the area, they are going to turn it over to District Leaders. This means Elder Garcia has some additional weight placed on him and his weekly planning will now need to incorporate that as well.
- He will have his last District Transfer this week
- He has 2 baptisms scheduled for this Saturday and is hopeful they will all work out. They will have interviews with them this Wednesday to make sure they are 100% ready and will go from there.
We will continue to keep Elder Garcia in our thoughts and prayers along with him companion and ami's they are working with. He continues to be happy and seems to be enjoying his time in Africa. Looking forward to getting to speak with him next week.
I love you for forever and for always,
Mom
