Phone Call Home: Monday, June 20, 2022
| That's right! A phone call with Mom while she colors her hair! |
Elder Garcia did not make any sound via a Facebook message or even a phone call all morning today so I figured either he was busy or I somehow ticked him off. Thankfully it was the first and not the latter. :)
Elder Garcia and his District decided to go to the local zoo today for pday. Local ghetto zoo. That's what he said anyways. He was excited to meet up with other Elders and spend the day and just do different. I wish I could convey how thrilled I was to hear that they weren't just hanging at the apartment all day! Go out and experience Africa while you are there!!!
There is a set of Sister missionaries who would be coming along who have become very accustomed to the Elders taking care of expenses for them if they are out and about and Elder Garcia decided he was going to use this outing as a teaching tool. A big thing you learn as missionaries is to budget and these Sisters were not even taking not but instead just sitting by and expecting others to do on their behalf. It turned into some hurt feelings for a small minute but Elder Garcia said he was able to bring it back and in the end he feels like everyone had a great time.
Elder Garcia mentioned that he has interviews with President Proudfoot this Thursday. He is looking forward to that it sounds like and it also sounds like he will find out if he or his companion, Elder Mulamingo, will be getting kicked out of the area and off to something new. Elder Garcia has really enjoyed his time with Elder Mulamingo and will have a difficult time letting go of this companionship. Thankfully he understands it is all part of the mission and knows that technology will one day hopefully keep them in touch with one another.
Elder Garcia continues to present happy and healthy and getting along in Africa. He laughs and talks of other Elders who actually live close by and is excited about what is next for them after the missions. Elder Garcia will also hit his 1 year 1/2 way mark this month too! On Thursday the 23 he will officially have been a missionary for 1 year. CRAZY how fast this whole thing goes. Sister Garcia is due home in 15 days and her mission has gone just as quick.
I am prayerful that this will be another great week for Elder Garcia and those he is working with as well as those he is teaching. I pray that those who are looking and searching will find a chance to bump into these Elders and have the opportunity to have a life changing message shared with them. Until next week, keep doing all you are.
I love you to the moon and back,
Mom
