Subject: Exchanges and Forgetting a week...oops
Bonjour tout le monde!! J'espere que vous allez tres bien! This week was a week of a lot of work and many tired days but it was all worth it 100%.
On Tuesday we had our
first District Council and that was great! The sisters are very
insightful and I learned quite a bit. We were viited by the Zone Leaders
and they gave us a training on finding people and teaching and how we
can teach as we find and we can find when we teach too! I love the Zone
Leaders and my district. I am very excited for the rest of this transfer
and what it is that I can learn from the members of my district. I went
on an exchange with Elder Hansen and that was a party! Elder Hansen is
seriously so hard working and I learned many leadership qualities when I
was with him.
On
Wedesday I was still in Agoe with Elder Hansen so we finished up our
exchange and taught many lessons and walked many kilometers. (I don't
know what the conversion for km to miles is so I don't know how many
miles it was) Elder Hansen let me lead some lessons and then gave me
many pointers on what it is that I can do better. He is seriously so
awesome you guys! I'm pretty jealous of his companion because he gets to
work with him everyday haha. We got lots of rain on Tuesday night, like
all night long. So we woke up to a chilly/gray sky morning.
Thursday
it was so slow here in Sanguera. All our lessons fell through and all
of the amis that we tried to call weren't free so we went and walked and
talked and tried to find people. Elder Mulamingu and I were able to
talk to some members to hopefully help us this coming week.
Friday
was pretty weird. It wasn't crazy hot or cold in the morning it was
kinda nice haha. Like a small breeze through the apartment. Almost like
waking up in Hawaii minis the sound of the ocean haha. We were able to
do our weekly planning and set our goals for this coming week and we
were able to figure out what we could do to realise our goals for the
rest of this last week. We didn't have a whole lot planned out for
Friday but we made it work. We visited a family and talked to them about
the Plan of Salvation for a second. Elder Mulamingu wasn't feeling well
so we went to the apartment to get some medicine for him and then when
he was feeling up to it we went back out to sector.
Saturday
was like a sick day so I got to do lots of contacting and calling
people from the apartment. Elder Mulamingu is feelings lots better
though so we're chilling haha.
Sunday
was very special. Every missionary in our mission fasted for help to
open the border to Togo and to have that powerful spirit this month as I
fasted was just amazing.
This
past week I have been studying in the Doctrine and Covenants and The
Saints volume 1. I highly recommend it. But it just opened my eyes to
how much faith the founders of this church had at the beginning of this
dispensation. I love reading the spiritual revelation to specific
members and how the Lord knows each and every one of us. I know that
with all my heart.
Week 2:
Hey y'all sorry that you didn't get that last week. Must not have sent. Here's the highlights from the week
- Elder Johnson went to AgoƩ :/ but we got a new elder in our apartment! He's from Congo too!
- We got asked by 3 people when they could get baptised!!!
- Got stormed out one afternoon :/ but the colder weather felt great for a small change
-Found a cool "jungle" area with my companion
- I gave my first baptismal interview and I loved it!! The people here are 100% prepared by the Lord and His servants!!
-
We went as a stake and talked about our problems with each ward/branch
and how we could fix it (I'm really hyped and looking forward to what's
coming up y'all)
- We had a new record of how many is came to church!!!
This
week while I was in my studies I found myself really digging into my
testimony of the Book of Mormon. I thought I'd share that with y'all
this week. I know without a doubt that it is 100% the word of God to
the ancient people of America. I know that there is no other way that
the Book of Mormon could have been translated other than by the power of
the Lord. Joseph Smith did find and translate ancient plaques. I, like
Moroni, invite you all to read the Book of Mormon and to pray with a
sincere heart and a real intention, having faith in Jesus Christ -- to
our Father in heaven and ask if the things written in the book are true.
I know with my whole heart that they are and that they will change your
life. They will teach you and they will help you.
Thank
you all for reading this week! And sorry that you got a big one. If you
send me an email I promise I will try and get one out to you as soon as
possible.
Beaucoup d'amour,
Elder Garcia
