| There was no photo button circle thing to push so we had to screen shot.... |
The Monday when we learned that for whatever reason, Facebook took away the white circle to take a photo of your screen when you are on a Messenger Call..ha ha ha. But whatever, we totally made it happen!
Elder Garcia was happy this morning when we talked and he was updating me on all the things of last week. But before he got into it we were being serenaded by Elder Profitt in the background. Not kidding. This kid sings and sings and sings and it is hilarious.
Some key moments to remember:
- The water pump exploded on the roof today! Elder Garcia was doing laundry and saw water coming from the roof but it wasn't raining so he headed up and found the problem. They were able to turn the water off and had someone come take a look. There is one part that needs replacing but that will be done later today and they were able to get the water turned back on too
- One thing Elder Garcia learned this last week is that if you set a goal, a higher one than what you know you are capable of, you most of the time end up accomplishing that goal and even more importantly, you surpass the original goal set. We talked about this and how it is so important to always have some sort of a goal set that you are working on. Not just as a missionary but also as a person individually, as an employee, a spouse, etc. When you have something you are working on you are always pushing yourself
- Elder Garcia had 16 ami's at church on Sunday! That was awesome for him and most said they will be back!
- There is a current goal of getting 5 new ami's each week. Elder Garcia says this area is super busy and growing like crazy so it is 100% totally doable. The Sisters (the tricky ones) however are only averaging about 3 a week. He knew as a district leader that he needed to talk to them so he called them up and tried to encourage them to be better but not be overpowering or a total controlling mean jerk at the same time. He said he was worried they were upset with him. I told him I didn't think mad but maybe just upset in that they know they can do better if they work a little harder. Life is all about growing and learning afterall right?
- Elder Garcia and his companion were handed off 14 new gray dots this week! 14 is a lot. Gray dots are those that have worked with missionaries before but for whatever reason things stopped. Well, they had a day this last week and decided to make a phone call to each of them. The end result was that they were told off (quite literally he said) by some and others were willing to make a rendezvous appointment with the missionaries. This has Elder Garcia looking forward to the week to go and put in some work.
- This new apartment that Elder Garcia is in has 4 Elders in it and he really likes that. He likes that there are others to catch up with and talk to or just hang out with. They all worked together today to clean the apartment too. Today is the first time on his whole mission that while were on a call I heard Elder Garcia speak French. He was talking to one of the other Elders who was going to head out and get lunch and food. The other Elder asked if Elder Garcia wanted a burger and I heard him reply in French.
- Elder Garcia will go on an exchange with Elder Hansen this week as well. He really likes Elder Hansen so he is super happy about the opportunity there.
In all, life seems to be moving along just fine for Elder Garcia. He seems happy and he looks healthy. There isn't much more really I can hope for than just that. Grateful for technology that allows us to see each other each week and for the new rule that allows a weekly phone call home. It really is a great way to start my Monday mornings.
I love you for forever and for always,
Mom
