Phone Call Home: December 13, 2021
Elder Garcia had the following highlights this week:
- He is back to biking and boy does he miss walking!
- He has exchanges this week with the Zone and District Leaders. Both because the Zone Leaders are not companions at the moment so...Zone and District it is. (So weird by the way...)
- It is definitely MUCH cooler in Kpalime and he is grateful for that. He said that he has been grabbing his sheet at the end of the bed and using it at night and not even turning on his fan. What a difference compared to being in Lome
- He has a baptism scheduled for December 25. I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas than to have a fresh baptism. How totally rad!
- He and his companion have been traveling to the very edge of his area to visit with Papa Felix. He gets to do lot of service there and LOVES it. He didn't do any service the last time he was in Kpalime so he is embracing this opportunity as often as he can get it.
- He has new ami's he is working with! One woman has 5 children. 1 is grown, 2 are over the age of 8 so they will be taking lessons, and 2 are under 8 and will learn as the Mom and 2 older kiddos learn too.
- His companion is CLEAN and likes to keep things clean. Elder Garcia is over the moon about this!
- As of December 4th it is a requirement to be able to attend any sort of religious gathering, you must show your vaccination card showing that you have received your Covid-19 vaccine. Masks are also a requirement in Kpalime where in Lome they were optional.
Elder Garcia was so great this week with patience. I was on the call with Sister Garcia who just needed some extra one on one time and he patiently waited while I finished before calling. Seven hours ahead is the time difference and so for him to allow that time is just remarkable and made a huge difference. I am so thrilled with the happiness that I can see and hear in him when I talk with him. He laughs and he talks so highly of what he is doing each day.
Before our call ended Elder Garcia requested that I send him a picture of a cartoon eagle and a cartoon chicken. I am going to have to follow up with him on what it is he ended up doing with those images I sent off...makes my mind wonder and smile all at the same time.
I love that Kpalime is giving you a different taste this time around and I pray that you will continue to find joy in this journey and in this area you are in. Thank you for your example and for allowing me into this stage of your time on your mission. I love you more than you know and love you endlessly. Keep being you. Talk to you next week.
I love you to the moon and back,
Mom
