We had Daylight Savings come into play while we were in Mexico which was LOVELY and meant I got to sleep in an extra hour today! I woke up at 5 instead of 4 and I am not sure if it made much of a difference now that I see the photo we took today but...I was a little more rested maybe. :)

Elder Garcia is doing well. He had some interesting things come up throughout his week that I want to touch on:
- They have an ami that has been taking lessons and he felt like she was really progressing and doing well. When he and Elder Meline discussed her with I believe someone in the Bishopric, that gentleman just smiled and said basically that there is plenty still to do because this young lady is a PROSTITUTE?! What? So....needless to say, Elder Garcia and Elder Meline have their hands full of working with her
- Another ami, Charlotte, has taken lessons from lots of sets of missionaries and for some time as well. She comes to church each week but she just doesn't understand fully what it is that is being taught. Elder Garcia mentioned that language and various other reasons play into it but they wanted to see if they could do something different. He ended up working with 4 ward members who joined them in their lesson and sweet Charlotte understood! She doesn't ask questions so they are unsure of what they need to go into further detail on but with these 4 members there to testify of the truthfulness of things, she was able to convey her thoughts and impressions with those in attendance. Elder Garcia said that this so far has been one of the highlights of his mission.
- Elder Garcia loves contacting people at the local soccer game that takes place each week. He says there are lots of people who gather and either play or just watch. With that, he says there are a LOT of people so it is a great breeding ground for missionary work. He says that they are all very warm and inviting and receptive so it makes for a great time.
- Elder Garcia was able to visit with a gentleman in front of a Catholic Church while he waited for an appointment that they had arranged. This gentleman asked both Elders why they weren't inside the church. This was an open door and Elder Garcia took it. He was able to discuss the organization of the church and ask if the Catholic church was laid out the same way. When the light was clicked on, Elder Garcia passed a restoration pamphlet with their contact information on it. They discussed where this gentleman lived and Elder Garcia was so sad that he isn't in one of his areas and informed him that they would for sure pass his information to a fantastic set of Elders who would be in touch with him.

Elder Garcia continues to study the language and he feels he is learning more each day. He was under the weather towards the tail end of the week and had his first puke in the African church toilet before church even started on Sunday. He said that as soon as he was done puking he felt better and has been great ever since. He doesn't know what it was that got to him but he said that he would be totally happy if it doesn't happen again. I am glad to know he is doing better and that today was a better day.

Keep up the good work Elder. I am so proud of you. I love you for forever,
Mom
