Christian headed off to school today and I was certain he would text me in the am and tell me he got his call...well he didn't. And when I texted him to see if anything had come in, he just simply said 'no'. We were both hoping it would be here so that Sister Garcia would still be home to see him open his call but it was looking bleak.
After he got home, Christian was down in his room, I was in the office, and I heard a CRASH on the stairs! Like a huge crash!!! So I jumped out of my chair and headed to check to see if everyone was okay and just what the heck happened. As I turned to the top of the basement stairs, Christian was handing me his phone and rubbing his shin that he just slammed into the stair as he was flying up them. When I looked at his phone...

The day the call came in...

So freaking crazy that at 3:11pm it came in!!! We have been so used to early morning calls that this was pure shock. And what a blessing in that Sister Garcia will be available to be here too! Christian got his adrenaline to take a breather and decided he would go to the temple to open it up. I was just as antsy as ever as he walked out the door. I shot a text to Tyler so he could head home, I ran down and whispered to Sister Garcia (who is currently in the home CTM) that his call showed up, and took cookies out of the freezer so that they would be ready for this evening.
When Christian arrived home he came in and sat down with me and Tyler. He read his call and he has been called to the Benin, Cotonou mission speaking French. He is scheduled to report to the Provo MTC on June 23, 2021. I have NEVER heard of this country and of course as Tyler got on the Google we all three quickly learned enough for now about this place Christian will go and serve the Lord. Christian got himself ready, and we made some preparations for his friends to come by to hear as he opened his call.

The thought of two missionaries out at the same time is both super scary and yet super humbling too. I am so proud of these two kids and for the examples and faith they constantly share. They have both been promised in blessings how blessed people will be to meet them as missionaries and the posterities that will be touched into the eternities because of them. Christian is going to have an adventure ahead and I am thrilled for his choice to serve.
God Speed Elder Garcia...holy cow I am shaking with excitement!
